While the long-headed Captain was talking with the Supreme Commander of the tyrranical empires defense fleet, STARBORN was freeing the hostages with his space/time portal power. After rescuing the hostages, he opens a portal to the bridge of the Commander's ship. You can see the long-headed Captain through the portal behind STARBORN, and also on the Commander's screen. There is more, done in rough sketches somewhere. Basically, STARBORN destroys the entire defense force, while the Allied ship escapes. I never established why STARBORN couldn't just rescue the hostages from an interstellar distance, and avoid fighting at all. I'm sure it has something to do with politics, though.
If you don't destroy the enemy, it is like cockroaches, they will return!
